Thinking Out Loud About Tracking

It's definitely an eye-opener to see how differently I eat when planning and tracking my meals vs. spontaneous eating. Even after learning my healthful portions and healthful foods, I’ve noticed that I really cannot get by without at least tracking my meals and snacks along the way. It's best if I plan my meals ahead of time but if I at the very least track as I go along, then I can make adjustments within the day to meet or come close to my daily goals. I have not been tracking consistently since January and it shows in the numbers. My weight loss has really slowed down and hit many plateaus. There have been weeks where I’ve gained between 2 and 6 pounds. Thankfully I lose those extra pounds but then I’m just back to where I was before without any real progress. It should not take me this long to meet my weight loss goal. This is getting ridiculous. I know I shouldn’t beat myself up for back-sliding and I’m not. I’m just thinking out loud for my benefit and hopefully for the benefit of others who may read this. I really need to stick with the tracking every day, if possible. I have the mobile app so there’s no excuse. I can add the foods as I’m eating, if necessary. Tracking really helps me see what my patterns are and keeps me honest.
