Really, All I Wanted To Do Was Make Up My Bed
Thursday, June 12, 2014
This morning I decided to make up my bed. I started on one side, then walked to the other side of the bed. I noticed 2 hangers I had left out last night. Walked over to the closet to put them away and noticed that the long mirror hanging over the closet door was dirty. So I go and get the Windex spray and clean the mirror. Then I noticed the closet door frame needed painting. Next thing, I have the canvas on the floor, paint and brush in hand and I am painting.
You know of course that it does not easily end there. I have to let the paint dry for a while, and put another coat on later. So I need something else to do.
I had knocked down a picture in the hallway earlier. It busted the hook in the back. So I thought if I reverse the frame, I can put the hook at the other end. So there I am taking a picture apart and cleaning the glass (not broken) and fixing the hook. Looked great after I finished. But there was another picture below that one. So now I have to take that one apart and clean the glass and frame on it.
Now on to another coat of paint on the door frame. Looking better all of the time. While that is drying, the small cubby in the hallway, for the telephone needed cleaning. (this house was built in the late 40's, so a small cubby with a lip like shelf was where the phone used to sit). I have a phone connection there and a fake plant sitting in the cubby to cover it all up. I had to take the plant apart and clean each leaf with furniture polish and clean the container, then put it all back together. (are we having fun yet.)
Then my phone rings (my best friend from Ohio). We were actually on the phone for 3 hours. I fixed my lunch and ate it while we were talking. And, I also put another coat of paint on the door frame while we talked.
You could probably see this coming: Wow, the door looks so bad now that the frame is painted. I am thinking that it won't take very long to get that painted. I noticed some small flakes of paint on the bottom of the closet door. I thought my youngest cat had been scratching on it. I decided to sand it just A LITTLE. While I am sanding, paint is coming off like crazy. Luckily I have the canvas down. But it is still all over the carpet :-( 90% of the paint came off easily. But there is a huge patch that doesn't want to come off.
I don't think that door will be finished today.
And, you know what, I never finished making up my bed. LOL.
