Sleep Apnea

Sunday, July 06, 2014

Okay, so a couple months ago I had a sleep study done and found out that the reason I have been overwhelmingly tired all the time is from severe obstructive sleep apnea. I've been in constant pain and had very little energy for anything other than work because of this all this time...I weigh 465 pounds now...my highest weight ever and I was having an incredibly difficult time doing anything about it. So, my stats were awful...I had stopped breathing 134 times per hour, my oxygen levels dropped below 88% most of the night dipping to 40% on two occasions. Needless to say my doctor was concerned. I have not felt rested in forever...My problem was that while I have insurance, my deductible was not met and in order to get my bipap machine that had to happen...I didn't have the money. So I pretty much was living in fear I just might die in my sleep...Then a friend sent me a cpap...not the same as a bipap but my doctor said better then nothing. I started it last night and slept pretty good...struggled just a tad with the mask but made it through the night. I'm really hoping this, combined with weight loss will make a huge impact on my life! I will update as I go...According to my doctor this may even help with my weight loss and pain!!! Here's hoping! Comments welcome!

I'm not sure what the difference between a bipap and cpap are, but I'm glad you've found something that helps!
