Chocolate is my Fall 5% Challenge trigger

Thursday, September 04, 2014

I am a Chocoholic, plain & simple. Give me a nibble of chocolate emoticon and there is no stopping me until the whole tray of brownies is gone.

Why oh why are there Hershey's chocolate almond bars emoticon in our vending machine down the hall ?!?

Why is that school, my colleague's kid goes to, selling World's Finest chocolate bars as a fundraiser?

Why does the guy whose office is next door have to have a jar of Hershey miniatures on his desk?!

Our challenge leaders tell us to avoid those triggers. I try using a different path to get out of our room so I can avoid the guy with the miniatures next door and I run smack into the box of chocolate bar fundraisers.

What's a usually healthy eater to do?!?

Ah, chocolate! After I got married, my parents moved from NYC to HERSHEY, PA. Even the street lights were shaped like Hershey kisses and the air always smelled like chocolate. Of course, they always had a lot of the product on hand. Visits were just one continuous trigger.

I used to buy 99% chocolate bars - I like it DARK! - but I'd keep it in the veg drawer of the fridge. Out of sight, out of mind, right? And I'd allow myself only a few squares a day. I know, it really is hard to limit chocolate. But I figure a little of a good thing is better than NONE - so keeping that in mind, sticking with my couple of squares was okay.
