Dear Future Self - read in case of emergency

Dear Future Laura,

This is your old self, sitting back at 255. Yeah, remember when we were down to 189? We are trying to get back there again now but maybe you are getting tried of being good. Of eating the right foods. Exercising. Maybe you're thinking taking a little break won't hurt... much. If you gain a few pounds, who cares? You can always lose them again, right? If you eat whatever you want today you can just get back on track tomorrow.

Let me take this moment to remind you that you don't seem to operate that way. You tend to put off "getting back on track" just one more day until months have passed. You abandon Sparkpeople and your SP Friends because you feel guilty. You don't log your food because you will be embarrassed if people see you had fast food twice in one day and then ended it with half a bag of Cheetos. When you stop long enough to think about it you get all depressed and angry at yourself. It's not good. It's not good for your body. It's not good for your mind.

I'm begging you, when you start feeling that way again, please, PLEASE: DON'T GIVE IN! We have worked hard to get here. Don't let a bump in the road derail the whole process. If you have fast food, that is not an excuse to then not go for that bike ride or that walk.

Laura, do not stop using Spark. You know that's the first step on the slippery slope to not doing what you are supposed to be doing. I don't care how much you don't want to log in today - DO IT.

If you ate something you probably shouldn't have - LOG IT ANY WAY. Be accountable, own your $hit and move on. Yeah, ok, other people will see it. Remember no one is perfect. Just make sure the next meal you log is healthy and just like that you are back on track.

Please don't stop trying. Let me say that again: DO NOT STOP TRYING. We got so far last time, we can make it the full distance if you just don't give up. I know you can do it. I'm here for you every step. Together we can make it happen.

    LOVE this! I hate logging my food when I'm off track, too. But it's so necessary. I guess that means I need to log that bag of chocolate covered pretzels I ate on Saturday. And my double martinis.
