It's a Beautiful Day In the Neighborhood

Thursday, September 18, 2014

My gym bag was all packed and in my trunk so that I could go workout right after work. But I just couldn't bring myself to do it. The weather outside is perfect. It's sunny and 73F. We aren't going to have very many more days like this this year. I don't want to be inside working out - I want to be outside working out. And that's exactly what I'm going to do. I just got home. I've changed my clothes and as soon as I'm done writing this I'm headed outside for a long walk around the neighborhood.

Yesterday, I mentioned that I do the treadmill at the gym and am getting bored with nothing for my eyes to focus on except the time. I should revise that a bit. It's not just the treadmill. It's also when I ride the stationary bike, or do the ARC trainer or the elliptical -- pretty much any of the cardio machines at the gym. I need something to look at to pass the time - and what better than positive motivational quotes and beautiful pictures. I'm going to use the movie I made for those too.

But I won't be needing the movie today. On a day like today, I want to look at the scenery passing by me outside. emoticon

And then when I get back from my walk, I plan to get all the totes filled with my clothes of various sizes out of the shed and the attic (which will also be more activity - a win-win). It's time to do some shopping. Some of my shirts and pants are becoming loose enough that I feel a bit sloppy in them. emoticon

I feel better in clothes that fit right. And I don't plan on gaining back the weight to make those clothes fit right again. So I'm going to see what else I have. And if I don't have any, then it's time to go shopping. emoticon

But as I'm going through the totes (and yes there are quite a few of them), I'm really going to take a hard look at what I've been keeping. Does it really make sense to hold on to them? The reality is I'll probably buy some new clothes as I go down as well. If it's not something I absolutely LOVE, then it needs to go to someone that needs it more than I do. So this little venture is also going to be a decluttering time. Wow, shopping, activity, decluttering, and helping a charity all rolled into one! That's my kind of activity!

Well, I'd better get going for now. It's time to start walking!

Hope everyone is having a bright and sunny day today (no matter what the weather's like where you live)! emoticon emoticon

This is definitely the best time of year to walk outside. I love it when I have to go through my clothes, and possibly buy new ones, because the ones I'm wearing are too big. It sounds like you are having fun. Good luck.

What a wonderful reason to have to go shopping. emoticon

I hear you about the weather. I took advantage yesterday as I know there are a limited number of warmish sunny days left on the north coast of Ohio! boo hiss I hate winter and can't convince hubby to retire and move.

Keep moving, keep active and have another wonderful day!

Clothes getting loose -- the best way to see your progress. If that leads to a shopping trip -- that's the best non-food reward. Win-win-win!

    Great job!

I hope you really enjoyed your walk! It's always a thrill to have to get smaller clothes so have a little fun with it! Be sure to keep one larger outfit so when you get to goal weight you can compare!

I hope you had a good outside walk. I agree, it's always more interesting than the treadmill but once the weather turns cold, it's nice to have an indoor option.

Have fun with the clothes sort! emoticon

I so prefer walking outside to the treadmill! Sadly I won't be able to do that on workdays much longer since it's getting dark earlier. It's a good thing I have lots of books on my Kindle app.

I know what you mean about the clothes. I am so hating that almost none of my clothes fit well anymore! I mean, I'm glad about it because it's good, but I also get really irritated when my clothes don't fit right.

I have set some cash aside for thrift store shopping, but that does take time. I'll enjoy it, though :)

emoticon You are making progress when you are cleaning out sloppy-fitting clothes. Good for you passing them on charitably. Hope your walk was simply wonderful!

Yes, I want to enjoy as many of our good weather days too. I know I will regret it and miss it more if I don't... once it gets too cold to be bearable outside more than 10-30 minutes at a time and other times when it's downright dangerous due to threat of frostbite!

I know what you mean about loose and feeling sloppy. It felt good to have loose clothes at first, but now I feel sloppy. I'm hoping to get some shopping done soon. It was supposed to be the thrift store this Saturday for 50% off, but I won't have a car. I might see if I can arrange some other transportation because "new" clothes are past due and how can I pass off a 50% off sale? lol

I wish you luck in your activity with the clothes and buying new ones! emoticon

I hope that you enjoyed the walk - you're right in a few months most of us in the colder states won't be outside much! Enjoy.

I LOVE working out outside! I sold my treadmill last year and don't regret it one bit. We need oxygen and light for circadian rhythms. Way to go!!! I only go to the gym to lift weights (or swim). Sounds awesome!
    Have fun shopping!

Grats on you clothes becoming loose. That's great.

Walking in nice weather is the best. I make work out plans but if the weather is nice I switch it up immediately for outdoor workouts. Besides it also helps break the boredom.
