I made a commitment to myself to get my exercise routine re-established. For those who know me, that sounds kindda weird, because that's always a habit and a priority for me. However, being gone on vacation for a month, and not really doing anything besides walking, it was amazing to me how easy it was to get out of the habit, and how hard it was to get started again.
But I started with little steps, easing back into water aerobics, and 30 minutes on the elliptical machine, just to try to get my habit back. I was amazed that I wanted to just sleep in, and not do anything.....and that's just not me.
So I've been doing that for a couple of weeks, and now I'm motivated. P90X has always been one of my favorites. It's been a few years, and a shoulder surgery ago, and I'm 55 years old now, and I really wondered if I could do it. I decided I would do the lean version. I had forgotten how much fun the Plyo disk was, and I did it on the second day. Yesterday was the 3rd day, and it was shoulders and arms. I was a little apprehensive, because I wasn't sure whether doing P90X before was part of the cause of my shoulder injuries, so I decided to approach it with caution. I started out with only 5 pounds, and that was the right choice. There were a few curls that I moved up to 8 pounds, but I was very controlled with my movements, and really concentrated on doing the right form.
When I finished, it was overcast and somewhat cooler outside, so I decided I would work out in my flowers and beds. I still had some trimming/pruning to finish up and a whole lot of weeding to do. I had the energy and the motivation to do it, and it was perfect weather conditions.
So I really felt like I accomplished a lot of my "things to do", but got in a little extra exercise....All of which made me feel better :) I was tired when I finished, but not to the point of over-doing it. In fact, I still have one bed left to do, but I knew when to stop.
And I'm looking forward to doing the Yoga today!
