I can't seem to get enough of this song. Every time I hear it, I stop what I'm doing and listen to the words. They seem to define me...or maybe used to.
You see, this summer I broke through the huge obstacle that's holding me back. I used to worry about other's opinions, let other's comments bother me. Then this summer, when I started running during my lunch break, I had to make a decision. Would I let the negative comments of my coworkers ruin the joy I had discovered when I run during lunch, or would I just ignore them. And I decided to not care.
Since then, I've applied this same reasoning to many other situations. And you know what, I've decided that life is a whole lot more fun when I just don't care what other people think or say about me.
I've added this song to the beginning of my running playlist, so I can reflect on it whenever I start to run. And it helps. And today I enjoyed a fantastic 3.14 mile run at lunch, without thinking about anything except the wind in my face and the ground beneath my feet. For that brief time, I found my joy.
