They finally got a piece of the pie.

Friday, October 24, 2014

My husband and I went to see our son's new townhouse this evening. The carpeting is tan and all the walls are white. It has black kitchen cabinets with brushed nickel knobs and black appliances. I think it is a lot bigger than the main level of our rancher and it has huge closets in it. There are 3 bedrooms with two full bathrooms and two half bathrooms and a garage. The half baths have pedestal sinks in them. It is really nice. They are near a Food Lion grocery store, AC&T, Subway sub shop and a Dollar General.

Our son bought Chinese food for everyone. His girlfriend's mother came over too. We laughed because both of us brought a roll of toilet paper. We took a box of tissues, a bar of soap and paper towels. She brought paper plates, napkins and plastic utensils. She had two nylon folding chairs in her car and we took those up to sit on.

Our son and his girlfriend had unpacked their dishes and were putting them in the dishwasher. Before we left, we loaded it again. Our son put the dishes from the dishwasher away and they decided what they wanted to leave on the countertops. They have bought a few curtains and rods and will be looking at furniture soon.

It is really nice to have all new stuff to start out with. I know they will both take good care of their place.

Remember the lyrics to The Jeffersons?

Well we're movin on up,
To the east side.
To a deluxe apartment in the sky.
Movin on up,
To the east side.
We finally got a piece of the pie.

Fish don't fry in the kitchen;
Beans don't burn on the grill.
Took a whole lotta tryin',
Just to get up that hill.
Now we're up in the big leagues,
Gettin' our turn at bat.
As long as we live, it's you and me baby,
There ain't nothin wrong with that.

Well we're movin on up,
To the east side.
To a deluxe apartment in the sky.
Movin on up,
To the east side.
We finally got a piece of the pie.

Sounds like a wonderful home for your son. I like it is near Food lion, Dollar General and others. My home is within walking distance of 2 grocery stores, the library, Family Dollar, Dollar General, CVS, and some eating places as well as the bank I use. As I have gotten older being near these has helped to keep my gas budget in check and if I need to I can walk or bike to them. It is a small town so it is relatively safe as well. Now he can make his Christmas list easier as well. emoticon
