Day 122 of exercise in 2014 (not a streak)
Walking: 2 mph (30 minutes per mile) 15 minutes 71 calories burned
Tonight will be the first night that my son and his girlfriend stay at their new place. She has some stuff in a storage unit and they were here and ate some creamed spinach and peach pie, then my husband went with them to get the stuff from the storage unit.
I have an old clothes hamper that is full of towels, face cloths, dish cloths and a few potholder sets. I had my son pull it out of the closet and then let his girlfriend pick what she wanted from it. With so many baths and half baths, she needed some hand towels and will have to buy soap and soap dishes for each one. They bought a dining room table, living room furniture and a bedroom set. I don't like it that they will be so much in debt. I figured I had this stuff in the hamper and it was all new, but not being used. I need to go through my linen closet and get rid of old towels that are threadbare and some that the seams have come out at the edges, but that will wait.
Once my son gets all of his stuff out of the house, I will take apart the bed and stand the mattress and box spring on edge and use his room to move stuff into while I thoroughly clean other rooms and maybe paint.
Their town house is about 10 miles away from Hagerstown, Maryland, in Falling Waters, West Virginia. We went over today to help our son hook up a fan light in the living room. He went shopping last night with my husband for lighting fixtures.
I went over yesterday while a technician was there to install internet and another one came to install dish TV. The internet guy ran a cord right over my son's garage door frame. My son went to his girlfriend's rugby game with her mother. It upset me that this technician didn't seem to care that they are under a homeowners association's rules. My son went home last night and pulled the cable down and called another company for installation.
Their neighbor came out in her night shirt and watched everything while her dog ran around doing his business on other peoples' property. We left our house at 7:30 AM and nobody came to get me after the technicians were gone. I broke down and made a sandwich for myself and opened a bag of cheese puffs and ate some of them. My son turned off the heat and I got cold. My hands and feet were cold. I picked a place on the carpeting where the sun was shining through the window and tried to lie down to sleep, but couldn't. I guess I got home around 4:30 or 5 PM.
The dish guy couldn't do what he needed to do because the TV had to be there for the hookup. He said my son would have to reschedule. The internet guy got smart with him over a cable and I felt bad that I didn't know enough about electronics to know what the internet guy was talking about. My son had bought something and had it laying by the box for the cable to come through the wall. The internet guy said he should take it back and get his money back for it, but then he tore the shrink wrap off of the new box and looked inside of it. I told him to call my son and tell him and he said he would, but he didn't.
He told me he stuck a pin in someone's cable that gave him grief and that the person would have to pay so much a foot for new cable and pay for a new installation. I felt bad that I was useless and this guy just did what he wanted, any way he wanted to. My son said not to worry about it. I got so frustrated when the two men argued about the cable wire, that I said, "Do me a favor, have your company flag my son's account, that the homeowner must be home when a technician is sent there!"
My son took some food tonight and I don't mind because he spent a lot buying groceries for all of us while he was here. He only took some bottles of salad dressing and some canned soup that he bought.
I have a lot that I need to do before my husband's surgery. I did not know that my son started a siphon hose on the pool. My husband told me when I got home last night, to go look at the pool. Nearly all the water was drained out and now we are having to fill it back up so the walls don't collapse this winter. When I got home yesterday, I felt like that I was grateful nobody stepped in dog crap and tracked that through the new home. That would have been the proverbial icing on the cake!
Today went better, but our son and his girlfriend's younger brother were playing a video game of hockey. My husband and I got tired of waiting to put up the fan/light fixture. They finally got it up and working, but my husband dropped one of the light bulbs and shattered it. They don't have a vacuum cleaner there and they don't have any cleaning products.
They want all new stuff and are running up debt ( I was never that way, nor my parents). They scrape food into the trash instead of covering leftovers and putting them in the fridge. They both will have to learn, but some people never do.
When my husband bought our Outlander, he traded in the pickup truck and the Outlander gets good gas mileage. Little did we know that we would be running back and forth to West Virginia like we are now.
When I am home, I make hay while the sun is shining, so that I don't end up having so much left undone. Our son sent home Chinese food with us Friday night and we haven't finished it yet. Not having to cook left me some time for myself. It is like having two places to care for until they get in and get situated. They have curtains and rods to put up and their washer and dryer will be delivered tomorrow.
