Kids and Horses

So, that sums up my life the past few months. Having a 2 1/2 year old dropped into my lap in July was a surprise to say the least and has changed things up for me. We foster children and I have had some great wins with them lately, though also some things that still plague the household, and that are particularly stressful for me; though we are pushing through and dealing with it. Also have started to home school our two adopted children and they are thriving.... life is just changing up for me at the moment and I find that so many things really do come along and push me off of track and before I know it my fitness goals have been lost in a rest area somewhere along life's journey. It is then that I must turn around and go get them! And it seems to happen several times a year. I quit berating myself about it now; and just make a U-turn and go pick back up those goals where we left off.
If I restart Couch to 5k today- there are exactly nine weeks left in 2014 to get it done. That is actually a great motivator for me to push through; there are no weeks left to restart on! I can be that way with house cleaning too.
What has been awesome this year is have been teaching our adopted children to ride. We have no biological children, and I'm in my 40's, hubby in his early 50s & these were two of our foster children (adopted son in November & daughter in April). They are 6 and 8 years old and were from two completely different families; although it had been a hope of mine that they would love horses and want to ride, I didn't push it on them, and waited until they asked me to teach them to ride. And so, all spring & summer and now fall they have been learning to ride on the trails and are doing great. I will certainly look back on 2014 and remember that as the year I learned that our children love horses too and learned basics of riding
