Bike Adventure - Training

This is my very first blog - ever! I am starting a new exercise/training routine and thought blogging about it might keep me motivated. I am a dedicated walker - usually walking 6 to 7 miles a day. I decided I needed a new motivation since I am starting to get bored with walking and less motivated. My daughter does a lot of bicycling - she is a competitive cycler racing in many different kinds of venues {city, road, off road, long distance). She and her husband own quite a few bikes depending on what kind of race they are participating in - they even do tri-Athlons.

My daughter suggested I try biking and set a goal of participating in one of the bike ride adventures she does just for recreation - she does a lot of biking with a group of friends who ride various distances {and elevations} in the Virginia and Maryland countryside. This group is an organized recreational group and makes detail plans for their rides - including overnight stays.

I picked an adventure in October 2015 riding through the Virginia wine country so I will have lots of time to train. I even got another friend to go with me so I will have a training partner! I have purchased a new bike and ever important padded workout pants!

I'm motivated at this point and hope it continues! Wish me luck on this new adventure - and exercise opportunity. Sounds like a good opportunity to meet new friends too.
