Wipeout!

Thursday, November 20, 2014

Out on my run today I decided to go a bit further then my usual loop. This new course took me through a different part of the park and a path that had some low over hanging plants.

I managed to come down on a branch with my left foot and then trip on the now firmly secured hazard with my right foot.

Somebody should have yelled timber cuz it was quite a fall. Skinned both my knees and hit my head, but what is really hurting is my left hand. I think I sprained my pinkie and ring finger pretty bad. I can move everything but man does it hurt!

Thank god no one was near by to see me! I am sure it was hilarious to watch but I have no desire to end up on a YouTube Fail video compilation. :)

I sat there for a bit, got up, dusted off and ran the rest of the way home.

Owie!

Aw man that sucketh! I'm so happy to hear that your okay thou. As embarrassed as you might have felt, I assure you that we've all done it and it's just a small blip on the radar of crazy things that will and have happened in life.

Take care of yourself, fix up those knees wounds and in a short time you'll be good as new. Promise.

OMG , by today you must be really hurting as it usually takes a day or two before you feel the worse of the effects of an injury.
I am so sorry to hear this and feel so badly for you. I hope you will be okay in a day or so and not feeling a great deal of pain.

Like you, I would have been mortified had anyone been around to see the "FALL" but perhaps it may been beneficial to you to have had some help from a compassionate passer by.

    Take care dear friend.

Ah, so we share the same innate grace! :)

I think it is very cool that you are venturing further and getting some new scenery. And I'm jealous of your ability to run.

I hope your fingers aren't too badly hurt. Load up on the ibuprofen and if they're still achey post weekend, go get them checked out!

Yikes...doesn't sound good! I hope you don't end up with too many aches, pains or bruises! I hate to say this...but I would be the one laughing first, helping second. I am not a good friend. NOW....you need to tend to your wounds so that you are in tip, top shape for our challenge! Congrats on finishing your run though....talk about determination! emoticon

Awww mann!! They really should ban exercise - It's dangerous! Seriously... Don't go that route anymore, Gyrl. Sprained or fractured hands and fingers are painful. And the last thing you want to do is injure your legs or feet. I hope you don't have a concussion. Stay awake for now! emoticon

First of all, you are still running, and you are even pushing yourself to go farther / longer. This is great! The loop in the park sounds lovely, although dangerous. I am glad your fall wasn't more serious and this is definitely a great argument for buying a flip belt so that you can bring your cel phone with you while you run. I never bring mine but I'm going to start. Good on you for finishing your run after a short dazed break of sitting.

I haven't fallen yet while running, but I trip and fall all the time otherwise. Last winter, returned a stack of about 23 books to the library. I slipped on some ice and really fell and all those books went flying. I remember a bus passing by and a sea of laughing faces. And once I walked right into a pole. During the day.

Thank-you for the link to flower-pot heating. I just might give it a shot. It will give me a chance to dust-off my power tools.

Owie is right! Glad to hear it wasn't worse and that you kept your sense of humor. Nearing the end of a six-miler, I wound up in the emergency room with three stitches to my chin, a tetanus shot and lucky to have all of my teeth and bones intact - similar fall to yours except that I have no idea what tripped me on the trail.

Feel better soon and consider getting your hand checked out by a doctor - injuries are no fun!

oh NO!!!! That's not funny, at all :( I'm so sorry you are injured! As someone who tripped TWO TIMES recently, and skinned the same knee in the process both times, I know how much that smarts, and I wasn't even as injured as you. I hope this won't slow you down too much! Take care of yourself. emoticon
