Happy Day After Thanksgiving!

Yesterday’s Tofurkey Trot was AWESOME!!! The views were just stunning as it went through forested trees, past an incredible uncovered reservoir, views of downtown Portland.

(View from a location above the reservoir with downtown Portland in the background.)

PS – the run supported 2 non profits: NW Veg and Wildwood Farm Sanctuary

11 5Ks so far is awesome! You will definitely meet that goal. And yes, trail running is fabulous -- the half marathon I did a couple years ago was a trail run and, though it was challenging, it was through a gorgeous area.

I've never tried tofurky jerky, but the name sounds funny enough that if I see it, I will! One package at a time though, because I loooove me some pepper beef jerky!

Good job, Greg! You're kickin' some serious booty!!

    Hi Greg,

My grown sons always ask me to join them on Thanksgiving for an early morning four mile Turkey Trot. I always decline. There are thousands of people that do this trot. All sorts of people do this from dog walkers to families with little kids.

I guess this comes under the heading of "fun run". I am a firm believer that running a race should be brutally hard! Of course, that is a person choice.

    Check this out:

You ready for a real "fun run"?

    Thanks, Bruce

P.S. - Like your shirt. I really enjoy your vlogs!

    HA awesome

There is probably some setting that would reverse the image. I like the charities this run supports. I feel a little guilty because I'm not sure what charity the one I did supports, hmm. Hopefully nothing I would object to.

    congrats on the run

So cool! I wanted to do a local turkey trot, but being a broke, unemployed student really hinders the ability to put forth money for race entry fees! emoticon Someday...

I am all about trying the new products made for vegetarians/vegans! I'd try the heck out of the turkey jerky!!!

Glad you had an awesome, fun time trotting through the beautiful scenery!

It DID load! And I'm glad, because this was super CUTE! (KAWAII!) I smiled from start to finish! Your TOFURKEY (who in the heck THOUGHT UP that WORD?) jerky looks...um...um...good. (Just being polite.) Gotta try that. But seriously, thanks for showing me your BIB! You're right--I was thinking it was somehow related to eating, what with all this talk of Thanksgiving, tofu, and turkeys! Glad to see it was quite a bit more grown-up looking! By the way, that red TOFURKEY shirt look good on you, GHK1962! And if I were you, I would have forgotten about my "time" if the whole trail was as beautiful as the part you show in the photo. What a great place!

Good for you for running all those 5Ks! You must be pretty fit by now! Sounds like you'll soon be joining your friend who does half-marathons. Way to go!

Yeah, the mirror thing has to do with the program you're using to record - many cameras built into laptops will be backwards like that (if you've ever used Skype, the same thing happens when you're talking with someone), and only specialized programs will then flip to look normal.

I have no desire to try tofurkey jerky. I was one of those people making a face. :D

I don’t know why things show up backwards in the vlogs. I think it’s because I am using my laptop and it has a mirror effect. When you see me waving my left hand around, it’s really my right hand. And all the words you see are as if you’re looking in a mirror.

Anyway, I do want to emphasize that the Tofurkey trot supported 2 non profits:

NW Veg - who are dedicated to bringing awareness to the power of a veg lifestyle and help people in their transition toward making healthier, more sustainable & compassionate food choices.

Wildwood Farm Sanctuary – they provide shelter and rehabilitation for abused and abandoned farm animals, and they also try to inspire change in the way society views and treats farm animal by promoting a compassionate and cruelty free lifestyle.
