What happens when fitness becomes and obsession....

I have often being told that I am "obsessed" with fitness; more of the working out part which I don't agree with but everyone keeps saying the same thing. My gym buddies have even begun calling me "the energizer bunny." I work out twice per day 6 days a week. I am soooo close to my goal weight that I can smell it (only 7 lbs. away) but what happens when everyone surrounding you says that you shouldn't lose any more weight including your husband but you as an individual thinks otherwise. When people would ask him about my journey and how I did it he would normally tell them "you need to be obsessed with working out to get my wifes results". Does that mean that I'm obsessed with working out or does it just mean that he's just amazed at my determination and perseverance and is it wrong to be obsessed with something good? He still supports me in wanting to lose more weight (as seen in my previous blog) and he doesn't show me any sign of unhappiness neither does my "obsession" show any sign of a threat to our marriage. We get to spend some time together while still getting in a good work out so to me it's all good. Feel free to comment your thoughts and opinions.

    I do not think you are "obsessed" with fitness. If I could workout more like you are/have, I would. I think it is determination on your part so why not capitalize off of it because we know how easy it is to fall into a slump.

    I think there will be some people, no matter what, that will not be supportive. Try not to take it personal and use it as energy to keep going. Hubby tells me too I'm fine, but you know in your spirit when you are fine and are at the point where you no longer need to lose weight. emoticon

    Everybody gets down to their goal weight in different ways, some more slowly than others. If working out twice a day makes you feel good, and it's not hurting anyone/anything...then there's no reason to quit.

    A lot of people who aren't currently working out as consistently peg those people that do make working out a priority as being 'obsessed'. This could be out of jealousy, or because they feel bad that they can't fit exercise in - thus a person must be 'obsessed' in order to fit it in.

    But I think if you are healthy, and you are listening to your body; giving it rest when needed, then there is nothing wrong with working out. I used to workout twice a day. I don't have the time right now with my job, and raising my son who is only 2. But I found working out before work helped energize me for the day. I work an office job so sitting all day drove me nuts. I had energy i needed to burn, therefore I did a second workout after work.

    Thanks so much guys for your feedback. I find now when I do miss a workout I feel drained and my day most of the times really doesn't go well so as long as it doesn't affect my marriage I'm going to keep going especially now that I'm so close.

    I don't know your husband, but I have, more than once, received backhanded compliments. I have been told to: stop losing weight, I work out too much, why can't I just eat "normal", (this is a favorite) I'de invite you to join us but you don't eat, from co-workers and my husband. Few people seem to understand the true desire to be fit and healthy. Not everyone feels that amazing feeling that you get from a great work out and/or eating healthfully. Not everyone has the strength and determination to do so. It can be jealousy, concern from not understanding, combined with admiration. As long as you are healthy and happy, just keep working it girl! You will reach your goal!

    I would guess if your Obsession doesn't threaten your marriage or hurt you it is OK, the last few lbs are the hardest to lose, I am just 6 lbs from my goal, and been on hold since October when I was put on high dose prednisone, I figure that the fact that I didn't gain weight is a plus, another week and I will be off the prednisone. Good luck on losing the rest of the weight, you look amazing!
