End Of Year Weigh-in (The Dawn of the Quit)
Wednesday, December 31, 2014
For those of you who I haven't met yet, my name is Trent. I joined SparkPeople in 2009 (yes those new years '200x' sunglasses worked back then). My goal was 2-fold. I wanted to weigh at or below 195 and have a bodyfat ratio of 15%.. My starting numbers were 225@25%.
I lost a ton of weight (like "literally" a #TON of weight) (*). At one point I was literally 0.8 pounds away from 195 (**). I lost all of the weight I've lost in the first year here on SparkPeople.
The subsequent 4 years have been really painful. I've basically stayed around 204-206. I am too thin for size 38" jeans and not lean enough for 36" ones. My weight once spiked up to 217, but i fixed that in like 2 months. #firstworldproblems
All that to say, I don't have a lot of weight to lose, but it's those last 10 pounds that the kids keep talking about (***).
I wonder if SparkPeople is the right tool for that, so I am going to give it one last test in 2015. The desire is what it was back in '09/'10. I want to blog twice a week. Comment on friends' blogs. Basically enjoy the journey with those who are seeking the same.
The end game is to make the same type of changes as then only at a different level. When I was 230-250, pretty much any small change I made was yielding a pound every other week.
At the end of the year, I either need to be 195 or I need to accept that SP is not the right tool for the job. The plan after the final weigh in I will clean out my page and make it private to those who have been friends to me. Throughout 2016 and maybe 2017 stay in touch with those who are still on regularly.
It's been 5 years and I need closure at this point. #quittingtime
I have a tradition of weighing myself in both New Year's Eve and New Year's Day. The former tells me how I did for the year. The later gives me an artificially high number the morning after a celebration where I don't focus on eating. As a starting point, it gives me a quick win on the scale (****). This morning was the former.
- Tonight I will eat meatball subs which will probably spike my weight up to about 205/206
- Tomorrow I will have my NYD weigh-in.
The quitting beings #TOMORROW!!!!!!!
- TD Out!

(*) Trent likes to make fun of how teenagers and college kids talk. He paid his dues for 8 years.
(**) literally literally: 195.8
(***) He's sure some of them do, anyway
(****) It's a guy thing...or maybe not
