As Part of my renewed effort to be the best me I can, I have decided to blog once a week, most likely on Mondays due to new work schedule. So here goes:
Yesterday during my workout I drew real inspiration and motivation from several female singers who helped me push through and one song touched home, it was the song by Pink, "Less than perfect", below are some of the first verses/lyrics from the songs:
Made a wrong turn, once or twice
Dug my way out, blood & fire
Bad decisions, that's alright
Welcome to my silly life
Mistreated, misplaced, misunderstood
Miss knowing it's all good
It didn't slow me down
Mistaken, always second guessing
Underestimated, look I'm still around
Pretty, pretty please don't you ever, ever feel like your less than, less than perfect
Pretty, pretty please if you ever, ever feel like your nothing, you are perfect to me
Your so mean when you talk
About yourself you were wrong
Change the voices in your head
Make them like you instead
So complicated, look how we all made it
Filled with so much hatred
Such a tired game
It's enough, I've done all I can think of
Chased down all my dreams
I've seen you do the same Oh! Oh!
Pretty, pretty please don't you ever, ever feel like your less than, less than perfect!
Pretty, pretty please don't you ever, ever feel like your nothing, you are perfect to me!
The song continues but why I wanted to share this is because, I have made wrong turns/bad decisions with my health choices and I have had many self hatred talks with myself about my imperfections. However, I am still here digging my way out and I need to tell myself that although I am not where I want to be I am still ENOUGH and I should never feel less than perfect and neither should you! We are strong and we can do this! I can benefit from changing the voices in my head, to make them like me instead.
My computer savvy is not great, but I have added this link to the video for the extended lyrics and song. Hoping it works, if not you can just search, "lyrics to Pink's less than perfect" and you should be able to find it.
