So I went out to do some shopping, hoping to find some great deals on fitness equipment. I want to get one of those chin-up bars that hang in the doorway so that I can start doing the P90X workouts. I had seen them a couple weeks ago at Bed Bath & Beyond, so I grabbed my 20% off coupons (you know, they accept them even after they've expired, right?) and headed over to BBBY.
Most of their fitness department had been replaced by summer stuff: lounge chairs, beach umbrellas, etc. There were a few fitness things left - some yoga mats and a Zumba balance board contraption. January is only half over, and already people have moved on from getting fit to getting tan.
I aborted that mission and headed over to Costco. Maybe they would have something similar. Now, Costco on a Wednesday at 11am shouldn't be that bad, right? WRONG! It was a madhouse, as usual. Did they have much fitness equipment? Not so much: a set of graduated dumbbells with rack (I would love to, but will have to stick with my adjustable ones for space reasons) and a treadmill (again, not enough space available). They had the same Zumba balance board thingie (but with more DVDs than the one at BBBY) and a different yoga mat. I guess only women work out the second half of January, since most of the stuff seemed geared to females.
Target probably still has the gear I'm looking for, but I've exhausted my shopping energy for today. Tomorrow I need to go get a haircut, so maybe I'll venture out again after that.
My Power90 strength training today went really well. Even the dips were manageable. The right (damaged) shoulder is starting to get stronger, although the dumbbell presses are still a challenge. As a wise friend here shared, sometimes the goal of fitness is being better at fitness. I'm definitely getting better at it.
Thanks to all my SparkFriends - especially the new ones - for your support and encouragement. You guys ROCK!
