We had a good turnout for church today. I sing in the praise choir at our contemporary service, and it's always a lot of fun. There were some new faces in the congregation today, and I welcomed a couple on their first visit.
Steve made two trips to Lowe's to pick up more mulch (16 bags each trip). He got most of it laid out, but I helped a good deal. All the planting beds really "pop" now with the black mulch spread beneath the plants.
This evening we had our neighbors Karen and Larry over for dinner. Karen suffers from fibromyalgia, and has a very restricted diet. I did my best to accommodate her. No gluten, no dairy, no alcohol, no tomatoes. Larry and I did manage to finish off a bottle of a nice rosé wine before and during dinner. :D I made lemon chicken, a brown rice risotto with mushrooms, steamed veggies, and a salad with butter lettuce, dried cranberries, chopped apples, and candied walnuts with balsamic vinegar and orange olive oil vinaigrette. Not too bad if I do say so myself. I made gluten free cookies from a box mix with light margarine instead of butter, and coconut milk ice cream in both vanilla and chocolate. I'm sure glad I don't have any dietary restrictions like she has. It wasn't easy finding recipes that would work for her!
Tomorrow is going to be a catch up day for me: laundry, some shopping, fixing one of the pumps in our backyard pond, and cleaning up the office. It'll be fun!
