Not Giving Up

Ok so I started off this year doing great. I was staying within my calorie range. I was cutting back on the sodas and drinking more water. I was easing myself into a lifestyle change without being completely overwhelmed.
So what happened?!?!? This past week wasn't horrible but it wasn't great. I did exercise at least 4 days. I drank water. But I was lazy otherwise. I didn't keep up with my food choices as well as I had been and went over my calories several days. On Saturday and Sunday I didn't even enter my food because I knew it was horrible. I didn't keep up with my organization to make life simpler.
But did I give up? No. Last night, knowing I was completely over my calories for the day, I made a smart choice for supper. Something I actually WANTED to eat...a salad. Wow! In times past, at this point I would have just given up and eaten something totally not healthy. I would have binged on all the foods I had been avoiding.
So what happened? I didn't give up. I didn't give in. I made a smart choice. I forgave myself for my mistakes and moved on and moved forward.
So guess what? It's a new week. I am getting back on track and not worrying about last week. I am beginning this week with a positive attitude and acknowledging the good habits I have began to develop and are still working on. I am a work in progress and understand I am going to make mistakes. I just need to learn to forgive myself and move on!
