Day 60 - Milestone Day
Wednesday, January 28, 2015
I've made it 60 days of logging into SP and getting at least 10 minutes of activity every day. Today will be no different, although with less intensity than normal, unfortunately. I had a root canal scheduled for this morning, but the endodontist found that the tooth was split, and there was no way to save it. This is what had happened to 3 of my other upper molars, so I wasn't terribly surprised.
On a whim, I stopped by my regular dentist on the way home from the endodontist, and they saw me right away. Within 30 minutes, the split tooth was out of my head. He even pulled it apart to show the two pieces. It would have made a good scene in a horror movie. I'll be getting my veggies today through V8 and cream of broccoli soup, since I have to stick with soft foods today. I think a milkshake (made with light ice cream, nonfat milk, and a scoop of protein powder) will boost my spirits, once I'm done biting down on the gauze pad.
Once I'm all healed, I'm going to go in for a consult on dental implants. Because I am now missing 4 upper teeth (2 on each side), I don't have the chewing capacity that normal people have, and that could actually cause more damage in the long run. My dentist thinks that one implant on each side should be sufficient. It would be cool if they could put in one post on each side, in the middle of where the two teeth were, and then put a "double-wide" crown on the post, which would give me a full set of choppers again. It looks like it will take a few months to get the entire procedure done, and we'll be all moved by then, so I guess I'll have to start investigating providers up in Clearlake.
I'm doing my best not to let this feel like a setback. I'm to avoid heavy exercise for 24 hours, so I'll just walk this afternoon at a slower pace, and that will have to be enough. But I am bound and determined to get some exercise in!
I hope everyone has a great day today! If you hit a milestone like I did today, make sure you find a way to reward yourself!
