Day 62 - Refresh Yourself
Friday, January 30, 2015
We finished painting the bar cabinets in the family room. They were a basic oak, and we've painted them a rich espresso brown. They now match all the bathroom vanity cabinets, which we painted a few years ago. It's a nice, upscale look that will help make that area "pop" for potential buyers. We went out shopping for a few pieces for the bathrooms, just some little things to make the rooms look inviting.
Tomorrow we're having a garage/yard/moving sale to get rid of some furniture, home decor pieces, and odd glassware. Then tomorrow afternoon we're washing all the windows. Sunday we have to remove all the bathroom countertops so that our contractor can measure for the new ones. (The ones we have now are original to the house and are a poor excuse for "cultured marble" - the new ones are Corian and will look much nicer.) This makes for a busy weekend.
I haven't been getting my regular P90 workouts in because of all these extra activities, but I'm still remaining active. We just came in from a good one-hour walk with the dogs that got me nicely out of breath. It's beautiful here - near 70 and sunny. Unfortunately that also means that the California drought is still with us. This is the driest January on record, with just 0.01" of rainfall. No precipitation is expected tomorrow either.
So today is all about refreshing appearances. A little paint, some decorative items, and a little polish and elbow grease go a long way toward making a space look nice. We do the same for ourselves, from a new outfit to just wearing a smile to make our outward appearance appealing and attractive. I encourage you to make one small change tomorrow that makes you feel better about how you look to other people. I already know you're beautiful! I just want you to know it too!
Have a great weekend!
