Today in one of my team chat rooms, they were chatting about rewards to give themselves for reaching certain goals. I responded by writing this....
I think all of your ideas for rewards is great..it keeps you motivated, and helps you feel good about yourself at the same time. When I was losing weight, I never rewarded myself for the weight I lost, but now I reward myself for being able to maintain my weight ..sometimes I find it just as hard to maintain, as it is to lose. If I gain a pound or two, I ask myself "what did I do wrong?", or "Gosh, I screwed up", or even the most famous words "if only" and I feel like I have let myself down, I am sure all of us have felt this way. I know it's not easy, for any of us, no matter what we have to lose, but we also gain so much,..feeling better about ourselves, wearing a smaller size, and FEELING stronger because you know you are not alone. I applaud everyone for the hard work you do. The hard work also applies to the support you give one another, and keeping each other motivated.
I found it hard to "reward" myself, because I always thought I wasn't worth it. Boy, was I wrong..we are all worth it. So now, I am able to reward myself. I buy myself clothes or just a little something... (even tho' I usually buy them at thrift stores, but all the things are "NEW" to me). Last week, I got my hair trimmed, and also had a manicure, and a pedicure..Gosh that made me feel good. I was able to tell myself and finally "believe" that I am worth it. It took most of my life to believe that about myself. so just remember and keep telling yourself "I am worth it"....that will take you a long way...
