From 2009: #5: Start Your Ripple
Sunday, February 15, 2015
Often, our actions are much more far-reaching than we realize.
Here's an example:
Have you ever tossed a stone into a pond? Most of us have, and we've watched the ripples caused by the stone hitting the water, ripples that continue to spread until they reach the pond's shoreline.
It is easy for us to see the effect the ripples have on our side of the pond, but what effect are they having on the other side? We likely will never know.
When we help someone, or compliment them, or offer support or encouragement, we see the effect our actions have on the person at the time. But what about later?
Will that person then help, compliment, support or encourage someone else? We may never know. All we can do is hope that our positive actions continue spreading like the ripples on the pond.
Today, who will you help? Who will you compliment? Who will you support? Who will you encourage?
Trust that your gestures of friendship will spread much further than you could ever imagine. Be a helper. Be a friend.
Start your own ripple today.
