If we are what we eat

Saturday, February 28, 2015

Then I guess today I am an entire menagerie! I woke up a little emotionally worn out from yesterday's excitement. Today at work was full of meetings and chores. And in the middle of it, we went out for a Chinese New Year lunch. There were 10 of us, and we ordered fifteen dishes. And a couple of appetizers - you know, to get us started.

Which meant that I belly-busted on two fish dishes, two shrimp dishes, lamb, beef, and two chicken dishes. The others were too carb-rich for my diet so I avoided them, but I managed to over-indulge on an impressive variety of protein. I'm not optimistic about what the scale will say tomorrow morning, but I'll get myself back on track. It's a holiday and needed to be properly celebrated with my work buddies!

Wow, Chinese New Year's US-style is a bigger celebration than I thought it would be! Sounds like quite a feast!

You have a good attitude! After "belly-busting" (first time I've heard that expression--thanks for the vivid new vocabulary, which I plan to use regularly from now on), you were spontaneous and open-minded enough to give yourself some psychological leeway under special circumstances, instead of beating yourself up for eating a lot. You're right that some things need to be properly celebrated. With that way of thinking, there's no doubt you will get yourself back on track right away. You are so close!! Way to go, BEMUSED!!

(By the way, I hope your dear little ring finger responded favorably to the protein-laden celebration. She okay?)
