Matthew 28:20
'teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world.' Amen.

I have been thinking about fasting lately, to my astonishment , our Lord and the apostles did fast on a regular basis. They never complained about being hungry, or seemed to be the least bit ruffled by the experience. For myself, I have never fasted beyond a medical reason such as getting my blood drawn or having a procedure at the surgical center.
Changes my whole disposition about fasting would not be so hard if I could get my husband on board. As soon as I am done with getting my blood drawn, bless his heart, he believes he needs to feed me. Once, after an over night hospital procedure where I had to fast for over 15 hours the first place he stops is a Denny's. the first place I wanted was my bed. He said, 'It's no secret, that you need to eat something for your sugar levels. All I do is pretend that the empty feeling in my stomach is really the Holy Spirit moving around, making itself comfortable inside. That way, the gnawing isn't unpleasant but it's quite comforting to think that God is so very close. So why can't I do this at least 24 hours at least twice a month to keep myself healthy and a little spiritual and closer to God. With out getting any flack from my husband or anyone else telling me that I need to eat something.
Why not try it at least once a month, for one day and see how we feel about it....

Today's thought: I will let my hunger turn my mind to God!
