Unexpected Motivation

Saturday, March 07, 2015

I’m feeling pretty energized, and truly blessed, from an unexpected source of motivation. I know I’m blessed each and every day, but particularly so, by my recent medical results. To my surprise, results from the variety of my physical, EKG, blood tests, and stress test, have all come back excellent.

I wasn’t really looking forward to the results since I’ve been sort of slacking off a little over the winter and I’ve not been very consistent with challenges since last fall. I do pretty well with my fitness minutes, meeting my step goals regularly, and exceed them quite often. But, I feel I should be doing more, intensity-wise. I haven’t had the energy to do more due to excessive work stress, which is way beyond the normal. With all of the new changes and increased workload due to an acquisition of another company, it isn’t likely to get any better.

I don’t have anxiety issues normally, but I had an anxiety attack in November that landed me in the Urgent Care, and felt like I was having a heart attack, then recently had another, not quite on that scale, but concerning. Now and then at work I get that racing, quickening, and shortness of breath, with increased sugar levels, which wipes you out and I’ve been concerned about my heart health. Then I felt like I shouldn’t do much cardio, so I have kept it on the lighter side. Of course this results in poorer eating habits too, taking short-cuts with more processed foods for quick meals. Thankfully, we’ve had delicious, healthy, home-made soups on hand that helped combat some of the poor habits. I really enjoy experimenting with them.

Next month is my 5 year maintenance anniversary, and I am thrilled to know that all is well with my health and heart, and that I haven’t undermined my progress in any way. I’m amazed and proud at my results and I aim to keep it this way.

I’m taking this as a wake-up call of what the results could have been, and could be, if I don’t take steps to change my work stress. I have a new appreciation of “healthy” and truly living a healthy lifestyle. I’m re-energized and motivated to take even better care of me, and step things up a bit.

Thanks be to God!

    Oh, how awesome!!!
    You should be very proud...
It shows how small steps and changes have a real impact!
So sorry my friend about the stress/anxiety levels with panic attacks...they are awful!
Do you meditate? Even a guided meditation tape for stress might help!
    Keeping you in my prayers!
    Love & Hugs,

I'm glad to hear your test came back good. Al.ways a plus!!
Anxiety attacks are the pits. Do you use breathing exercises when that happens?
It might help. When your weather stays nice, you can get it more exercise with gardening etc. That always relaxes me. For the most part, it sounds like you are doing great. emoticon

Wow! My heart goes out to you. I just want to give you the biggest hugs!

A hug to say "I'm so sorry" you suffered not one, but two scary anxiety attacks in the past few months.

I want to give you a hug to calm to help calm your work stress that's been building up over the years but doesn't sound like it's getting any better.

I want to give you a hug to say "Congratulations" on the fantastic medical report.

I can understand what you mean after you explained everything you've been going through how you would feel energized after getting this report!

I can understand how this report is motivating for you. The report was better than expected because you said you were tired and thought you slacked off too much. But you did more than you realized! Sometimes we don't realize just how important it is to stay the course, even if it's in moderation. Now you know it was worth it! Job well done! I'm glad the medical report revealed the fruits of your perseverance. It will be a great motivator for you to stay the course, keep up what you've doing, to carry on. It will be especially important for your heat health and helpful in dealing with the job stress.

Proud of you, sister! emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon
