Doing great!

Wednesday, March 18, 2015

I've been carrying on with my return to healthy habits - quietly and offline as there simply hasn't been time to post....

I am THRILLED to report that I have lost 5 lbs in the past 6 weeks - 7 lbs if I count from the very tippy top the scales reached in early February. Seems like a small amount until one looks at the %'s.....on my little frame this equals between 4-6% of my body weight. So I'm pleased....especially happy to have my jeans fit comfortably! emoticon

More importantly, I've stuck with small, manageable changes to make it happen....basically just exercising regularly (but not with any kind of intensity or pressure, I'll be honest...) cutting down drastically on junky snacks, fast-food, restaurant meals and processed foods, and keeping alcohol intake to my now habitual minimum (MAYBE a glass of wine on the weekends, but otherwise I'm pretty much a tea-totaller emoticon

Oh - and how could I forget???? I've unintentionally gone lower carb....by a total fluke, I realized that on days I ate oatmeal (which previously was 90% of the time), I had crashing fatigue 3-4 hours later....disruptive to the point that my basic ability to function was seriously impacted. I had been chalking it up to peri-menopause and stress, but when I 'happened' to go without my oatmeal on a few consecutive mornings, I discovered that no oats = no fatigue....or rebound hunger, or moodswings etc. So I quit. I had planned to test it, but the difference is enormous and I'm afraid to try.....

...and that may have helped the weight come off so easily...surprisingly easily, in fact....

I'm right at the mid-range of my goal weight now, so my next goals are more fitness-related. I've lost a lot of muscle tone that I've learned I enjoy having....so this will be getting my attention in the coming weeks. Slowly and gradually....

Onward! emoticon

Great job Mimi! I'm sure going lower carb has a lot to do with it.
