Run for it.

I began SparkPeople's Couch To 5K program at the end of January. I figured it'd be a good way to spice up my exercise routine. I'm currently in Week 7. It has taken me longer than the prescribed 8 weeks - I had to restart 1 (or was it 2?) week due to falling ill, and have also been on vacation twice since then. But I didn't think I'd make it this far. Running isn't for the faint of heart. But I'm proof that it CAN, in fact, be done.
While doing the first day of Week 7 a couple days ago, I realized, "Running makes me feel so good inside." And it's true. When I'm running on that treadmill, I feel invincible, powerful, good about myself. Running makes me push harder on the treadmill, even when I feel a twinge of pain. Those are feelings that I relish in the moment, and wish that the feelings could continue 24/7. But alas, I can't run 24/7, so I need to figure something out. Little by little, step by step, day by day.
In the meantime, I'll finish the Couch To 5K at the end of next week, and I plan to keep running after that (probably 1-2 times per week, maybe more). I'll order some running sleeves to (hopefully) reduce pain and shin splints; I'd like to make running a permanent part of a healthy lifestyle for myself, and hopefully the running sleeves will help make that possible.
For those of you who've considered a Couch To 5K program, whether on SparkPeople or somewhere else, just do what I've done - run for it.
