Susan G. Komen 3-Day

Monday, April 20, 2015

I have taken on an incredible challenge. On September 18th, I'll be walking 60 miles over the course of three days, camping out at night with thousands of other women and men taking this journey with me.
Susan G. Komen® is the world’s largest breast cancer organization, funding more breast cancer research than any other nonprofit while providing real-time help to those facing the disease. Komen is the ONLY organization that addresses breast cancer on multiple fronts such as research, community health, global outreach and public policy initiatives in order to make the biggest impact against this disease.
I'm really excited to do this walk. I've wanted to do it since it started, to honor my co-worker who passed away in 1997. I started training this weekend. I'll be walking long distances every weekend through the summer.
I have to raise $2300 to be able to walk. This may be more challenging than the training. I have a small group of friends and a small family. I was counting on my co-workers contributing but I'm not allowed to ask them for money per company policy. Right now, I'm 34% of the way there.
If you or someone you know might be interested in supporting the Susan G. Komen foundation, please consider donating to me. This is my personal URL:

Wish me luck on my training and fundraising efforts.

I also will be doing the walk along with my DH. We will be doing it at home here. He has been walking anywhere from 17 -23 miles each day. I may not get that many miles but I am walking for friends, and friends that have died this year along for myself as I am a 4 time cancer survivor.

Good luck on your training and when the walk comes.
