Blue Ridge Half Marathon - DONE!

Wow.... it wasn't as bad as I thought. The last week was hard because I was kicking myself for signing up for this. I listened to all the horror stories about how hard it was and how your feet will hurt afterwards and you knees and bla bla bla. I just wanted it to be over. Plus our last long training run was horribly. I felt so bad afterward and it was only 11 miles.
It turned out to be a beautiful day. The weather at the start was great and then got warmer. The sun was shining, no rain thankfully. Up Mill Mountain first, very long uphill where the view at the top was spectacular. Then some flat and then up, up, up to Peakwood Dr... all the way to the top. Beautiful up there also. All the grass was green, everything seemed in bloom. I just was trying to save my energy until I started down Peakwood. Then there was one more uphill they forgot about. But after that it was down, down, down and then flat back to the finish. I felt great and when I realized there was only 2 miles left I just let it all out and took off. I was so surprised at how great I felt when I crossed the finish line. Like I could have kept going! I would say within 24 hours I felt like all the soreness was gone and my toes and knees never really hurt that bad. OK maybe I do have a few more of these left in me. We will see.
