getting my groove back (doctor's orders)

My doctor is pretty darned wonderful.

I had a blood pressure scare in December, which is no longer through the roof due to some meds. High anxiety, moderate depression - the depression is doing better with the meds (but still tweaking) - the anxiety is still quite high. Add peri-menopause and I was quite a mess!

He's been talking up exercise since December. I've finally started it at the end of April! His prescriptions last visit include Omega 3's, Vitamin D, and exercising to music. Says if I follow through he expects to see big improvements on all fronts by next month. And I believe him!

I appreciate that he's trying to keep the meds to a minimum and include exercise and nutrition in the plan to finish the job.

After 1 week, I am down 4.5 pounds and finally got through a 1/2 hour workout on the treadmill. I'm doing lots of light weights and assorted exercises with my daughter too And I feel glimpses of what my body used to feel like ~70 pounds ago when I was doing oh so well - strong and grounded - not this pathetic lump of aging flesh.

My daughter says I'm on her 16 week "get swimsuit ready by summer plan", but for us it's summer vacation (the last 2 weeks in August) and I'm not aiming for a bikini, but the strength and endurance to enjoy an active family vacation in the heat.

So now I head down to do another treadmill workout (going to do a 40 minute program this time) and will blast some music as I do so. Work on getting that groove back in every sense of the word!
