Exercise round up - Day 2
Tuesday, April 28, 2015
I had my first steady run using the training app today. It consisted of a 10 minute warm up walk, 5 minutes of steady running, 7 minute cool down walk and 3 minutes of stretching.
When I left my house I was really debating with myself about going back inside and coming out again when it was warmer but I carried on and started the warm up walk. I have to admit I was freezing, my hands were so cold I could barely feel my fingers but once I got to the field the wind died down a bit and I could feel the sun warming me up.
The run itself was pretty good, I wasn't gasping for air like I thought I would be. I was trying to focus more on technique rather than speed or distance. I've had shin splints in the past and I don't want them again....ever!
I started running on the grass but had to move on to a little path to avoid some people and I think I've decided that I prefer to run on the path. The grass is more cushioned but I can feel my feet landing and pushing off better on the path, so I think from now I will do most of my running on the paths. The run was over a lot quicker than I thought it would be, when I started out 5 minutes felt like a lifetime then, poof, it was over.
Overall I enjoyed the run and I'm looking forward to my next run on Thursday which will be interval training.
