Sometimes I am amazed at the projects in my house the seem to find me. When those projects find me, I know there is a divine reason for this. All things in God's time.
I have a new recliner that I had not sat in..... on Thursday, I decided to nap in my new recliner. I tried to nap, but my two cats would not let me. They kept jumping on me in my new chair, so I gave up the idea of napping.
I don't have a working T.V. in that room, so I opened the armoire to see if I had kept the old T.V.
I had, along with a bunch of other "Stuff." Among the "Stuff," was quite a number of old VHS video movies that I had recorded off of my T.V. to keep and watch later.
I have watched a lot of these, over and over. That is, when I had a working VCR.
All of a sudden I realized that this was my project for the day. I did not realize what I had gotten myself into. I pulled up two large garbage pails and loaded them up with 30 gallon lawn/leaf bags to throw away those old tapes. {Most from the 80's and with commercials}. I then realized that I had a lot more tapes on a rack behind a door. Eight, yes 8 trash bags later, I am exhausted from getting up and down, looking at the labels, pitching them in the trash and then taking them to the city trash container.
For sentimental reasons, I kept a few tapes.
I found some Christmas cartoon tapes. I called our school system here and was in hopes they could use them. Unfortunately, they don't use VHS tapes anymore. O.K., I am trying to get back to the current century.
I have some movies that have the original jacket cover on them. I called the 'Habitat Re-Store'
and they will take those. The rest of my stash are eagerly awaiting Monday trash pickup day.
As I started typing this blog I remembered something. Not something I wanted to remember, but something I needed to remember. When I turned around from my computer, I realized my remembering was true....... darn.
Behind me right now, are three, yes 3 more boxes full of VHS tapes.......... O.K., this is wrong on so many levels.........
I recorded things on my Mom's T.V back then, or at a friend's, because I had only basic cable. It was great back then. But those are days are gone.
I don't think my city trash container will hold any more tapes, I will probably have to wait until after the trash truck comes by to start again.
VHS tapes....... Really.
