Hot and cold

Friday, May 08, 2015

I blogged earlier that I went from perimenopausal hot flashes to being cold nearly all the time, as I lost weight. My kid laughs at me a lot because we have such different responses to the same environment. Well, tonight I am feeling unreasonably warm again. The hot flash seems to have returned. I hope this means I am genuinely "maintaining" now and my body has settled into its new equilibrium reality. But I'm not sure that hot flashes are preferable to being cold. It was easy to put on a sweater or snuggle under a throw; right now I want to throw off all my clothes and climb into the fridge!

Ha ha! How could I have missed this little gem the day it came out?

Ah, I remember those days, Bemused! I used to sweat through two or three T-shirts in a single night, but it was so unbelievably hot and humid that summer that I couldn't pinpoint the source of my trouble. I didn't realize that that's what they call night sweats. I guess a strict diet combined with peri-menopause makes for confusion, too. I am so glad it's all over for me and I hope you don't have as much discomfort and inconvenience as I did. Now that you're more fit, I imagine it'll be a smooth ride.

I have a space heater and a fan on my desk at work. Sometimes they are on at the same time! ---Pam

I know exactly what you mean... I am going through peri-menopause myself... sometimes feeling real hot and sometimes real cold!

Take care & have another blessed day! emoticon
