week of eating out...will be hard to manage

Monday, June 01, 2015

Hi - I'm not much of a blogger, never kept a journal or diary, but I do find that tracking and accountability comes in handy and can take many forms. Since I started tracking food and fitness more regularly, I have been dropping some pounds.

So, thought I'd try another tool, this blog, to help me stay on top of things, this week in particular because it's a week of work meetings (ie. breakfast, lunches, dinners and snacks provided).

Previously, I thought of these as a perk, a treat, a break from everyday 'boring' salads I bring. But, lately, I dread them because the food is good and I cannot control myself! There are some reasonably healthy choices but I fall apart with portions and the sweets, esp at break times.

Also, some restaurant outings this week, and that's hopeless. I checked one restaurant we are going to that has the nutritional info and it is a shocking reminder of how much extra oil, butter, salt they (unnecessarily!) add. A veggie (veggie!!) burger is 1040 cal. A salmon sandwich is 940 cal. That's without any sides. I usually drink club soda so no cals there. But really chefs?!! I did find a salad that comes in at 500cal, if add chicken, another 200, so will do without. It has quinoa so will get some protein.

This week, I need to work on lunch meeting out today (chosen salad in advance), breakfast meeting tomorrow, full day seminar Wed (b,l,s,d), full day meetings Thurs (b,l,s, no dinner). Nothing Fri - phew.

And hopefully this busy week will leave me the energy and willpower to hit the gym to keep some balance. Have a great week everyone!
