Its hard to believe that we are already half way through the year! It seems unreal that the time is whizzing by so quickly! I'm definitely not complaining, though... I like the warmer temps and summer time activities! Summertime activities … vacations and trips; cookouts, parties and get-togethers … can bring great fun and enjoyment into our lives but they can also be an added source of stress - distracting us from staying on track with our healthy lifestyle goals. Keeping this in mind, my overall goal for the summer is to consistently create a balance between the usual summertime fun activities and staying on track with my fitness and nutrition program. As such, My goals for May were to
1) lose at least 1 inch from my arms, waist and hips;
2) lose at least 4 lbs
So, how did I do on those goal? Well, I am pleased to say that I met both goals. I lost 3/4 inch from my arms, an inch from my waist and a shade less than an inch from my hip. I also lost 5 pounds. May was an unusually busy month for me which cut down on my participation level with my teams. I was able to stay on track with my goals thanks to exercising first thing in the mornings and to weekend meal prep and batch cooking. Holding May as a preview of what June and the rest of summer will be like, my goals for June are:
1. lose 4 lbs
2. stick to my planned daily fitness and nutrition program
3. check in with my Spark teams at least 3 times per week.
Plan of action:
*** Plan, prep and batch cook meals as much as possible on the weekend
*** Eat within calorie range … 1200 and 1550 cal/day
*** Include protein in every meal and
*** Avoid eating carbs (other than fibrous carbs) after 5 pm.
*** Drink at least 10 cups water/day
*** Do between 60 to 90 minutes of planned fitness activities [strength training plus cardio] 6 days/week.
To get these workouts in I will be using
1. videos from:
*** Fitness Blender
2. The Elliptical trainer plus walking outdoors
*** Read a motivational quote/saying/poem/story daily
*** Take at least 30 mins me time each day - doing something that I enjoy.
*** Include at least one healthy habit in all summertime fun activities
*** Reward - A new beach towel
