Pizza nirvana

Friday, June 26, 2015

What a dangerously delicious, or deliciously dangerous, evening. We had a late day at work, so I suggested picking up pizza for dinner. We do this about once or twice a year, so it's a very rare treat. I got a pepperoni for the kids, who of course devoured it.

For the hub and myself, I got a specialty pizza with tandoori chicken, curry sauce, scallions, banana peppers, cilantro, and cheese. It may sound a bit odd, but it's absolutely delicious. I tried to restrict myself to one slice, supplemented with half a dinner plate full of veggies. But a couple of hours later, after trying to distract myself with fruit, I found myself succumbing to a second slice. Thus the danger - there's still half a pizza in the house, and I need to go to bed before it conquers me!

Still, I managed to stay within my targets for the day. I need to wait another half year before ordering pizza again!

Glad you were able to resist the urge to eat more than two slices. I am impressed you only do pizza a couple of times a year! At our house, I have decided to restrict it to every other month, and only as a last resort. Otherwise, I would have it every other week. Keep up the good work! emoticon emoticon emoticon

Good for you, only 2 slices. Pizza is another food I have to stay away from because I want to eat too much of it.

There's unusual pizza in the good ol' US, too? Over here, we can choose pizza topped with eggplant, kimchi, clams, potatoes. corn, tuna salad, Korean barbecue, nori, teriyaki chicken, and a hundred other "weird stuff" I don't think would be offered in my native land, or at least wouldn't be too popular.

I remember thirty years ago, right after I first came to Japan and delivery pizza was just coming into existence. We ended up using a pizza outlet whose crudely written English menu I still remember fondly. One of the toppings you could choose was "short naked clams." It tickled me to imagine the short naked clans, maybe in chorus-line formation, blushing on the pizza. Of course, what the restaurant meant to say was short-necked clams, which is also kinda funny if you picture it literally.

You did great! Pizza is hard to resist! But I thought you were going to tell us that you had gone out for pizza with your family and that you and your daughter had worn your new dresses!
