One of my younger grandchildren has just graduated from high school and is preparing to go into the Army. He is the first of our family in his generation to do so... I am proud of him but it is very scary! As his older brothers aged out of Grammy Summer Camp they just quit coming. It was sudden and a little hard on the grandmothers (neither of us life close to this family). After graduation his wish was to come to visit each set of grandparents for one week... what a blessing, what a wonderful gift. My husband helped him refurbish a tool box and fill it with tools for his future, I tried to help him revisit and/or build some memories to take along on his next great adventure.
These pictures were taken at the Humboldt State University Marine Lab, the Indian village at Patrick's Point State Park & a last piggyback ride for his cousin as we dropped her off at home... 1drv.ms/1C4M8eb
The next set of pictures are of a hike we took down the disused railroad tracks going North out of Loleta, CA to check out the tunnel about 1.5 miles from the town. Lots of wild flowers were blooming on the way. When we came back we visited the Loleta Cheese Factory, so he could buy some of his favorite cheeses and I could check out their really lovely garden... 1drv.ms/1LFEQR3
He'll be leaving soon for bootcamp, then his school, and who knows where after that. This was a very special time for me and I hope it was for him too. Thanks for sharing a bit of my life.
