The worst place to behave

Friday, July 03, 2015

I took the day off yesterday to take our younger kid and her friend to an amusement park. 1.5 hour drive each way, and 11.5 hours in the park, acting as sherpa part of the time and being mercifully ditched so I could sit quietly with some work and pleasure reading the rest of the time. The kid has been volunteering at work this summer so I promised her the day as a treat.

The park rules were no outside food or drink, so I kept myself hydrated with a gaudy souvenir cup and unlimited refills, most of which were ice water. The problem was the eating - it was nearly impossible to find anything healthy. It was fun to spend the day with the kid and she had a riot with her friend, but I was soooooo glad when the day was over and I finally got us home where we had a fridge full of veggies ready to raid.

Sounds like a great day! I can't eat that junk anymore, it hurts my tummy. Hurray for the veges at home!

It sounds like you had a very good day, and aren't you glad that you don't want all the unhealthy food the park has to offer? Those places are truly nightmarish in terms of eating. So hard to find anything not filled with sugar or drenched in oil. After what sounds like near-fasting all day, it must have been so nice to come home to the safety of your own veggie-filled fridge. Way to go, Bemused!
