Happy 4th

Saturday, July 04, 2015

We spent the day shopping and cleaning - the son has invited half a dozen college mates for the weekend. We don't have a big house, so having so many sleep over means moving furniture and clearing the clutter.

The best thing about this holiday sleepover is that the kids are going to cook for themselves. The son has asked me to make shrimp wonton, which he loves. The rest, he and his friends will cook. We went to Costco together and filled the fridge with food. I'm dreading the mess and hope they will be good enough to clean up after themselves.

And the rest of the family? We'll be heading over to a neighbor's house for a big cookout. I hope there will be enough salads so that it won't be too big a challenge to behave. Happy 4th to all the U.S. Sparkers!

What a great day you have planned. Isn't it wonderful that your son wants to party at your house? That's a testament to the good atmosphere you've created. And I know how hard it is to prepare for these events, but without them, I would never get my place cleaned up. I think it's time to plan a barbecue party, because my yard is totally out of control. So I'll bet your house is spic and span at the moment, thanks to your popular son.

I hope your wish comes true and that your son and his buddies leave the premises in the state in which they found them. Minus Costco cartloads of food, of course. Have fun!
