Day 228 - Small World

Thursday, July 16, 2015

Short post tonight - it's late and time for bed...

I went up to one of our clients (veteran's home repair) today with our architect. The client's deck is poorly built and starting to deteriorate. The architect was giving his assessment for what needed to be done.

The architect is an interesting guy. He comes across like an old hippie, but we had a great conversation. We enjoyed getting to know each other, and I felt very comfortable talking to him.

On the drive back, we were talking about the moon landing back in 1969. I mentioned that I was 12 that summer, and he said he was too. I asked him when his birthday was, and he told me. He was born on March 6, 1957, the same day as Steve! One of those great coincidences that makes you go, "Hmmmmmm!"

One of my construction guys is coming up with an estimate to repair the client's deck, but it looks like it will involved almost a complete replacement for at least part of the deck. Not fun, but after the tragedy in Berkeley a couple weeks ago, we don't want to take any chances.

I'm glad that this week is heading downward. Steve is off tomorrow, then has to work the evening shift (1pm - 10:30pm) both Friday and Saturday. It will be an adjustment to be home in the evening after work and not have him around. I'm sure I'll find something to do!

Have a great night, friends!

It's funny how coincidences like that happen, Steve. I once met a childhood friend of a neighbor of mine. Her friend's first name was the same as mine, and we shared the same birthday including the year. We have a friend my husband first met through business dealings years ago. When we started getting together with him and his wife socially we discovered his wife and my husband were born in the same city, same hospital on the same day, same year. He used to kid Neil and tell him that he slept with her first.

It's always fun to find out someone you know or just met has something in common somewhere along the way in life! Sure gets the convo going! and sometimes a new friendship!
Enjoy your quiet time. It's always nice to have your partner/spouse home with you, but it's also nice to have a lil alone time.... emoticon

so envious of your time at home alone! I rarely have that, and I enjoy a little JUST ME time every now and then. I prefer doing the house cleaning when nobody else is home. Keep trying to talk DH into going on a fishing trip with his brother (they use to go for a week every year).

I'm ready for this week to be over, too. But...I'm up early enough to make my favorite spin instructor's class this morning. WOOOOOO HOOOOO!

nights...I know you will! I am sure Sherman and Stella will help!
    Take care!

Yes, I am glad this week is winding down too.... Lots of stressful stuff going to work - I said to my boss yesterday that he should order a second pair of arms for me and a couple of spare heads! Hope the deck project works out well, Steve - your client will feel safe to use it again....
In the evenings you could explore parts of the neighbourhood you are not so familiar with, cook something that only you love, plant something new in the garden or do a couple of little jobs in the house you keep putting off!
