Day 233 - Monday Mindfulness
Monday, July 20, 2015
Any time I start a new week, I always take some time to assess where I am in my journey and where I want to be at the end of the week. This week is a little unusual because of my birthday on Thursday and upcoming Michigan trip on Friday.
This week I want to increase my water consumption and try to be a better "sipper" instead of "gulper." I have a tendency to drink a pint or more all at once, and then not drink any more for a few hours. I think my body would handle it better if I kept the fluid intake a bit steadier.
I'm continuing to eat clean about 90% of the time. This is the time of year with lots of healthy options. We just picked our first cucumber off our little garden. The tomatoes aren't doing well (we have a brown thumb when it comes to tomatoes, one of my favorite summer foods), but we're still trying. The cukes are going crazy, and the first one looks absolutely perfect. Those will be nice to enjoy throughout the summer, for sure.
I don't know if I'll have time to make my favorite dessert for my birthday. This has been my birthday cake for the last 6 or 7 years. I'm happy to make it for myself, although it isn't necessarily the most healthy dessert.

Needless to say, Paula Deen's name is on the recipe, so it's going to be delicious!
I will continue with my HIIT (high intensity interval training) workouts. I had a good session today with the weights. Shaun T is such a great motivator. I'm feeling stronger every day. Friday and Sunday I'll do some airport walking to get my fitness time in. I'm not sure about Saturday with the memorial service and family gathering, but will definitely get at least 10 minutes in that day as well. I've learned all too well that the commitment to being active is critical to being successful in this journey.
So I've got my plan for the week in place. I hope you're doing the same. Set a plan and stick to it. I can do it. You can do it.
WE CAN DO IT!
