Cincinnati - Cont. with pictures

I love to travel - I love discovering places and FOOD!

Back from Cincinnati; now on route to Quebec City where I will spend 2 days catching up with the family. Yeah - I can write a blog on my way to Qc; I decided to take the train. So nice to just sit back and enjoy the view. Last time I took the train to Quebec (I usually drive)- that I can remember - was for my sister's funerals in 2009. Speaking of my sister - I am sure she caught my attention with this bottle of wine on my last trip (I did not buy the bottle emoticon )
- Middle Sister - Rebel Red from California (like my late sister Eve - who also happen to spend about 3 years of her life in LA!) Speaking of California, I just realized that I did not blog much about this trip - I will need to catch up later! Sorry - back to Cincinnati!

emoticon to my sparkfriend SWEETNEEY - I am a foodie discoverer!!!

So more about food travel: Food Market and the local vendors!

Findlay Market - Hey they take security seriously there... (2 policemen on bikes and signs "No pets - no handguns - no smoking" in this order!!!)
Cool place for a coffee - and chocolate tasting at Maverick ...of course I bought a dark chocolate bar with a local flavor - The Prohibition, made with Kentucky Bourbon - to share with my DH. Love the tasting - I really like the Espresso Dark chocolate and the kick of the Chili Dark - dare you to try it!

Markets are a great place to get food inspiration - like this salad bar (did not taste - we were too early but I think I will try this at home... Blueberry bliss with feta, almonds and fresh mint! Quinoa with blueberries, peach and apple...)

Of course, with all the food we ate, we need to burn it off; so we walk! ... and take pictures of the fun facts ...
Like this - a stair track for your bike! Maybe not as useful as it looks after all, the local don't use it!

Love the River Park and the swings - LOL - it was the theme for the picture of the week family challenge!

Progress? and update??

Work: I am officially posted out of Base Borden. Time to turn the page and let go. I think I mentioned before that I am doing the 21 Day Meditation Program - Grace through Gratefulness with Deepak Chopra... And some of the teachings speak loud and are making a lasting impression on me at the moment... such as :

"Every experience- no matter how bad it seems, holds within it a blessing of some kind. The goal is to find it. ~ Buddha

"the more we dwell on the negative, the more negative energy we create" ~ Kriss Carr

So, letting go of my expectations and giving has helped me to see the positive side of my job this week (See, I write about the positive stuff to cultivate positive memories; I do have my share of worries, stress and disappointments... but I also have many little moments to be grateful for.)

For instance, my sergeant major gave me a plant and a nice card that spoke about kindness. Wow - my words can express the feeling of gratitude form this little gesture - she showed me that what I believe in and work so hard at is noticed... I believe in hard work - duty first - but also look after your people... this is important to me and it means so much to receive this from the troops...

Food - I just finished reading the book "How to Stop Binge Eating" - Health Research Staff & "It starts with Food" - Dallas and Melissa Hartwig.

Humm... Am I ready for this? I am ready for Stop the BINGE! and I am doing good! I am tracking and staying (for the most part) on track.

This week I made a Vegetable Moroccan Casserole (and I packed a lunch for the train trip .. leftovers! )

I am active - I go for walks daily (sometimes twice!)
My steps log is the proof - it is better than last week!!! The only day I did not hit 10000 steps is last Monday - and it was the day we travelled back home (so 10 hours drive doesn't leave much time for walking... )

I am moving better - much better and I can even carry the recycle bins to the street. My psoas (core) is getting stronger. I find it hard to see runners and have to set back. Recovery will take me longer than I anticipated. I won't be able to run a race this summer... probably not this fall. Slowly improving but I will be better after that - more balanced I hope.

Gotta sign off now - almost at destination (and it is getting dark!)

Om Mani Padme Hum (my favorite mantra - a mantra of compassion... "jewel in the lotus" - No mud, no lotus.)

Great post! Loved the foodie parts. So sorry to hear about your sister - sounds like she was a fire-cracker - I lost my mom that year - so - yeah - fun to see reminders of them.
