Finally!

Thursday, August 13, 2015

My dear friends and team mates, tomorrow is the day I get my knee replaced!

I am so happy. When it hurts to do anything, it's awful. My house has suffered, my laundry, my exercise...

But my daughter came from MN to be with me at Loyola. Susie will be there, too. They should have a nice visit.

I will be in the hospital 2-4 days then a sub-acute nursing home for 1-2 weeks. There I will have 2 1 1/2 hour sessions of therapy a day. Watch my fitness minutes climb!

I am sure I will be sparking more, paying more attention to teams and other activities once all this is over.

If you are so inclined, I'd appreciate your light, love, prayers and good wishes for myself and my medical team.

Spark on and be happy!

So glad your DD came it to be with you and yes, I'm sure she will have a nice visit with Susie, too! I'm sure you will feel better right away after surgery. When my DH had a hip replaced, he said it felt brand new and there was no pain! Well, let me qualify that. There was no hip pain, but of course there was surgical pain, but with PT and pain meds, it was no worries and he was actually back to work before he was really released to do so. (He learned his lesson the hard way, but it was hard to keep him down! ) He did work half days for awhile ( too soon)!
I know you will do super fine and fly through surgery without a care! Just follow Doctor's orders pre and post op, sweetie and make sure you never shirt your PT exercises!!!! Trust me!!! DH ignored his once he didn't have PT coming any more and it set him back about a year getting back to normal! You'll be looking for fitness minutes anyway, so always do your exercises!! Love ya, sweetie!! Prayers for all good things and for the medical team, too!! (((HUGS)))

I am with you - I had both knees replaced this spring - 5 weeks apart. The most recent one was three months ago yesterday. Listen to your doctors and therapists. Also, do not be afraid to take pain meds. You will not want to do the exercises if you hurt. I had mine well controlled.
Let me know if you would like more of my experiences. Things are much better now.

Wait, Loyola? Are you in the Chicagoland? I know of a few branches of Loyola. I live in Chicago. If so, we should meet up when you're recovered. Congrats on the surgery. I hope all goes well!
