Crossfit

So, the kids went back to school this week, and with that was my last excuse to not go to the Crossfit gym was gone. So, on Tuesday, I braced myself, and I went.
As I approach the parking lot, one by one, people run out of the gym, and ran on the parking lot. And yes, they were a bit intimidating. But I did not stall, I slowly moved forward, witnessed as they ran to a certain point, then turned back, and of course, by the time I reached the door, they were all running past me back into the building.
The gym inside reminded me a bit of Rocky Balboa. Straight to the point, nothing fancy. After a few steps inside, letting my eyes adjust to the light, the owner came to greet me, and was very nice. Ok, at that point, I was a bit surprised. She explained to me how it worked, and invited me to come join a ramp session the next day. I could not say no, so I left, pretty happy, and doubly intimidated, because, now, I had to put up the work!
Wednesday morning, I dropped off the kids, and took my water bottle and headed off to the gym.
So, as you know, we moved in July, and of course, I have not found my workout clothes. They are somewhere. I just don't know where. So my outfit was...a bit improvised. A red stretchy maternity yoga capris, white tank top and a black t shirt on top.
Once there, I waited for the trainer. and saw that another woman was waiting too. There were about 20 weight lifting pros (They looked like it). Everyone was very nice (surprised again!). When their trainer called them round at 8:30, some of them cued us in to joining them. Really, me??? then, our trainer showed up and the 2 newbies were separated from the rest.
We learned all about deadlifts. She showed us how to place our backs, shoulders, etc. to not get injured. We practiced deadlifts, front squats, back squats, and the rowing machine. I had never done that before. see, I love learning something new, so I really enjoyed that.
After a while, we started our "reveal": 250m rowing, 10 deadlifts (45lbs for me), and the length of the gym in lunges. All of this 4 times. that was a killer, in the good sense of the way. We were motivated by the trainer, the other owner showed up as we were lunging our way through the gym, and came to introduce himself our way lunging with us, so we would not have to move our heads up his way. That was neat!
Then, stretching, and realizing that soo many muscles in my body were by then really awake!
The entire time we trained, the larger group had their own training session. They were encouraging each other, pushing each other, yet each training at their own level.
So, at the end, I went ahead and signed up. I will be going back there tomorrow morning.
Anyways, I did it. i was pretty proud of myself for conquering this fear. And that was a pretty stupid fear, because I really should have gone through that door in July! Oh well, now it is done, and I am really excited about that.
Today, I skipped the 28 day bootcamp video. There is NO WAY I could do anything. The stairs are a bit of a challenge. But i don't feel like I overdid it either. It hurts in a good way.
Looking forward to tomorrow!
