Baby short steps

Or should that be "Short baby steps"?

I haven't worn shorts in public for about a dozen years. For the last decade, the only times I've worn shorts are when I've snuck downstairs to go on the treadmill, when there isn't anyone in the house, or awake in the house, to see me. I know, it was probably very vain of me, but since I couldn't bear to look at myself in the mirror, I certainly did not want anyone else seeing my legs in their full sausage-y glory!

So now that my limbs have shrunken to near normal size, albeit a little droopy, I have become brave enough to wear shorts. I still wouldn't be caught dead in them outside the house, but I will wear them around the house. Even when the kid and hub are awake and can see, in my full flagrant sagginess.

And it feels a little bit liberating. Also much more comfortable, in this late summer heat. But definitely very freeing. It's ridiculous, but I feel younger, because really, would I have ever thought that in my sixth decade, I would be wearing shorts? :-)

You go, Girl! (Am I using this expression correctly?) Wear those shorts!

Like Pam, though, I laughed. You are so good with words--full, sausage-y glory, full flagrant sagginess! Yeah! Let's start a revolution!

Couldn't help but laugh. I have that conversation with myself often, "if I don't want to see that, no one else needs to see that!". Good for you. I don't wear shorts, ever, but I love crop pants, those I wear almost year round.
