LA LA LA I can't hear you!

Monday, September 07, 2015

LA LA LA I can't hear you...we all used to do this as kids while we plugged our ears.

I sometimes wonder if this is what our mind says to us sometimes. You have a friend eating pizza, and completely forget what your personal mission is. Your mind is screaming "eat the pizza!!" and you think you have no power over food.

You DO. You are in charge of the "LALALA I can't hear you" mind of yours and you have the power to say, no thanks, I'm eating really healthy right now and don't want to eat pizza.

Of course, you COULD have a slice, put in in your food tracker and move on. A slice of regular cheese pizza is under 300 calories. I am not going to eat it, but maybe at some point, I might, if I plan for it, and allot those calories and fat.

My Daughter keeps bringing things home from work. Yesterday, it was Eggs Benedict. I smiled at her after she told me about it, and told her that I hoped it was good. I was eating my lunch of cottage cheese, tomato and a carrot, and enjoying it thoroughly. I gave her a bite and she told me that it was really good. I said, I know it's good. I'm not eating anything that isn't good. I'm just making sure it is good for me. She said, you don't think I should eat this?..holding up the container of Eggs Benedict. I said, Honey, I think you should do what you want to do. I am not in charge of you anymore. YOU are.

She smiled and said that they had really good salads at work, but they weren't as good as mine. I told her that I would fix her my salad any time she wanted one. She smiled and as usual, I realized how much I love that kid. We'll get her there one day. She just has to find her inner Spark.

Spark on.

Keep passing up the food your daughter brings home from work, she will see that eating healthy is better choices most of the time. We can have a a treat of food once in a while.

Awwww, believe it or not, from this outside view it sounds like your DD is definitely getting it, but it takes time to translate that into action. DEFINITELY spark kudos that she "lusts" after one of your salads. Make it! She'll eat it.

Another funny coincidence.... we had pizza for dinner last night! LOL I'm the cook, and there are times when I just don't feel much like cooking. We really enjoy the Kashi frozen pizzas, which are healthy (whole grain crust, mostly vegetarian) and quite tasty. Steve likes them too - which is critical.

I'm with you - if you eat good food that is good for you, it's a win-win!

Yesterday was my family dinner for my upcoming birthday. The hubby and daughter got pizza and cake, and my daughter got me dark chocolate covered blueberries in my gift. Thanks guys. I did not eat as planned. Today I start fresh. Usually I am able to pass on the junk.....oh well, today is a new day. I like how your daughter is asking questions, that is always good.

When I really think about it, I realize how tasty healthy food is and fast food really isn't all that great. Still, there's temptation. emoticon

I know what you mean. There was a pizzza hut commercial on last night and I said to my husband that I don't even remember the password after 3 years of not eating pizza! I made a salad last evening for dinner and my youngest daughter said she got so invested in eating the delicious salad, she forgot to eat her chicken. They are watching and they are learning! All in good time!
