High stepping again

Thursday, September 17, 2015

For months I was getting in some steps at work by taking two or three short breaks each day. I would walk down 5 flights of stairs, walk outside around the building, and then walk up 5 flights of stairs. It was only a few minutes each time, but good to get the circulation going and a little bit of firming up of my nether regions.

And then chores started piling up at work, and I struggled to find the time for even one break each day. I kept telling myself: I'll get on the treadmill tonight. But most nights, I didn't manage to.

And last week I decided, after some prodding from the hub, that I just need to find the time. There's nothing life-and-death about my work, and if I take a 10 minute break to stretch my legs the world won't end - especially since I eat my lunch at my desk anyway. So now I am back to going for constitutionals at least twice a day. It's not much, but it's helping a bit with dealing with work stress.

Oh, and the kid had an *awesome* soccer game tonight. Her team still lost, but she played so well. The coach said something nice to her afterward, which is unusual because usually she just barks at the girls. It's a special night, having the kid be so happy.

I also really need to stop postponing getting back to fitness! I used to do exercise videos at least three times a week, mostly strength training, and they made me feel so good! I wonder why I think I don't "have time"! Not a good way of thinking, and good for you for listening to the hub and getting down to it. I hope it makes you feel less stressed out and more energized!

I hate workdays were I simply do not get a break. I'm glad you are making it a priority, if not for physical health but also mental health. You should take a break. 👍

Glad you are able to get some walking in at work. I find it helpful to just move around and not have to think about anything. Have a great rest of the week. emoticon emoticon
