Cleaning for our daughter's visit.

Saturday, September 19, 2015

Our daughter and son-in-law should be coming soon. My husband vacuumed and scrubbed the carpeting today. We had a repair man come to fix our dishwasher. Once it was turned on, it wouldn't shut off if the door was opened. He said he hoped he didn't break the part that needed fixed because it isn't made any longer. He bent it to get it to work and said not to get a new dishwasher until this one gives out.
I puttered at cleaning, I just can't do much at one time and so I sat down between many of these chores and drank water.

Hubby made beef stir-fry for supper and it was delicious!

I suppose that our daughter will stay at our house Sunday night into Monday, since my husband will be driving her and her husband to the airport early on Monday.
Thursday I washed the recycle bin, the outside galvanized trash can and a smaller galvanized trash can that we used to put ashes and coals in from the wood stove.

1. Put recyclables in bin twice
2. Wiped off vinyl table cloth
3. Cleaned gunk out of bottom of the dishwasher
4. Checked to see if the appliance repairman had called today
5. Deleted off phone calls so I can tell when someone calls us today

11. Put a partial bag of rice in a jar in the freezer
12. Wrote rice on the grocery list
13. Pulled stickers off of fruit
14. Put fruit bowl in the fridge so we won't get fruit flies
15. Put stuff back on lazy-Susan
16. Got clean glasses for toothpicks and pens/pencil on table
17. Put dirty glass and container in the dishwasher from toothpicks and pens
18. Separated Crellie's vet records put in folder
19. Made 20 lined pages for scrap paper, took off any personal info
20. Put away some manuals
21. Shredded personal info that was on pet records and old e-mails that I had printed out
22. Loaded printer with paper
23. Made grocery list
24. Got coupons for stuff on grocery list
25. Shredded old grocery list
26. Cleaned tub in guest bathroom
27. Gathered trash on main floor

You did have a busy Day! Enjoy your time with daughter and her husband! My last repairman, before I got my replaced free because it was under warranty, was not allow to repair it but told me what to do! Well that lasted a year before I got it (happily) replaced. emoticon

My DD and SIL are coming in mid October. Would you mind coming over here and getting my house ready too? LOL I would be lying if I said I did all those thoughtful things. I do change the linen on the bed for them and we wash the floors most times and try to have all the dishes done and junk put away but, you know, after they have been here 1/2 hour, it goes back to looking like I had never done anything. At least you get the satisfaction of knowing your house is thoroughly cleaned!!!

Good reminder to look back over when someone asks "what did you do all day," and I answer "just stuff." Think I will pull out your list and start reading. haha That's usually how a woman's day goes.

    Again, Thanks for the reminder.
